QUETZALCOATL
Fate/ CANON Unknowable AGE Meridian FACTION Tier 1 HARMONIZATION LEVEL
#It'sComplicated, but post-Babylonia CANON POINT Female (She/Her) GENDER Stargazer ASPECT Tier 0 DISCORD LEVEL
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Quetzalcoatl is an imposing woman standing at 6’2” (188cm), and is very immediately and obviously strong. With her arms, legs, and abs almost always bared because of the Aztec clothing she wears, she shows her muscle casually, including a well-defined six pack. But in a big contrast to her physical presence, her personality and temperament is (semi-literally) warm and sunny. Quetzalcoatl is rarely seen without a smile, and she almost always seems to be having fun and living her life to its fullest. New experiences, new people, she’ll gladly take them all! And of course, as the god(dess) of the sun, her association with happiness and optimism is always on display save for the rare occasions she decides to take something fully seriously.

Quetzalcoatl is also very literally the Aztec diety of the same name. Those with spiritual sensitivity may find her presence almost overwhelming because though her power is significantly reduced in Kenos, it’s also noted in Fate canon that Quetzalcoalt’s divinity is remarkably high because of her position as a key and arguably most powerful god within her pantheon. Characters who would know of Quetzalcoatl and his mythos are free to mention it with no need to ask me! Myth in Quetzalcoatl’s canon is treated in a way where discrepancies are easily handled, and Quetzalcoatl herself would be thrilled to meet anyone that knew about her.

SHARD
Though it looks like a piercing, Quetzalcoatl’s Shard is actually the small, tear-dropped shape gem under her lips. Though it’s smaller than most Shards, it’s a brilliant and beautiful jade and is hot to the touch. For those that would perceive such things, Quetzalcoatl’s soul seems very “dense” as if a massive soul was compressed into a tiny object. That’s divinity, baby.

ASPECT TATTOO
Small and unobtrusive, but located on the left side of her ribcage. With what she usually wears (a poncho) it’s fully visible.

PERSONALITY
Quetzalcoatl is an incredibly simple woman and deity, ultimately. She’s an extrovert to the extreme and loves interacting with people! She easily and warmly proclaims how much she loves humans and loves interacting with them and learning from them in a way that’s much more humble than could be expected considering her status as a goddess. She gives her affection openly and freely and is also very touchy! Touching people, hugs, kisses, nothing is off the table with how she shows her appreciation to people. She gives the impression of even being slightly naïve and air-headed with how freely she gives her love to people, and she’s quick to trust people and take them at their word. She’s joy, optimism, and friendliness incarnate.

But Quetzalcoatl does have another facet to her personality. Her warmth isn’t a front in the slightest, but she’s also very ruthless and sees no contradiction between these two aspects. As she half-jokes in canon, for all of her sunny nature, she’s also a goddess of the Aztecs who practiced sacrifice and has seen cataclysm four times in her existence as a goddess. She’s an absolute brute and has no problem in fighting people ruthlessly, though she does do so honorably. For example, though she wantonly slaughters humans in the Babylonia Singularity (100 per day), she also uses her divine power to revive them and keep them safe under her protection. She’s not a cruel or evil goddess, but she is one with a actual super literal, don’t ask bc it’s fate lore alien outlook upon humanity and life. She loves humans and will protect them! But also, there’s not a huge deal in killing them if she has to!

BACKGROUND
Because of how Servants work in Fate, Quetzalcoatl doesn’t really have a “background”, exactly. If you’re vaguely canon familiar and have watched the Babylonia anime for example, she’ll only have vague impressions of the events that take place in that series. It gets into Fate Lore™ and is therefore too dense and specific to be relevant, but essentially she’d know that she fought Tiamat in Uruk at some point, but wouldn’t have specific memories of the events. I’m essentially playing her as if she was summoned to Kenos but through [mumbles over Fate lore] circumstances, does not have a Master. We’ll get into that in the powers section.

For more specifics than that, it’s honestly better to look at her actual Wikipedia page for her “background”! Though I’m still in the process of learning, the Mesoamerican history and mythos at the height of Aztec civilization would be considered her proper background and history.

ABILITIES & SKILLS
A summary at the top since unfortunately, I cursed myself by playing from Fate… Long story short, Quetzalcoatl’s series is one with frankly absurd powerlevels and Quetzalcoatl is towards the top of the ranks because she’s a goddess and how that slots into how things Inherently Work in her universe. Obviously, a lot of this is nerfed. For my sanity and yours. If you’re Fate familiar and are curious at some of those lore specifics of how she’s being debuffed, see this comment that lays that all out. If you’re not, don’t look at that comment and just continue into this section, since this is where I’ll explain things assuming that you’re canonblind!

MANA POWER LIMITATION As a major power limitation for Quetz, almost all of her abilities and how she can use them are dictated by a resource in Fate that to put it simply is called Mana, which is essentially just magical energy. Any time Quetzalcoatl uses a magical or offensive ability, it will drain her Mana, and the amount depends on the strength of the ability. The biggest drain will be her Noble Phantasms (see below), but fighting especially hard will also drain her Mana reservoir more quickly.

Because of how she manifests, she doesn’t naturally produce Mana and will need to replenish it! Quetzalcoatl is able to do this by pretty normal “human” things such as eating and sleeping. And, because this is Fate, I regret to inform you if you didn’t already know this about this canon, bodily fluids. Did you know Fate was originally a hentai visual novel? Surprise! It was!

Quetzalcoatl can reduce the amount of Mana she needs to recover after using her abilities by obtaining a Master. This is a long term player plot and will pair up a set of characters, but if you’re interested in pursuing this, let me know! Secondarily but unlikely to be pursued because of her personal distaste for it, Quetzalcoatl can also be empowered through human sacrifice were that to uh, ever happen,
Servant Stuff Quetz is manifesting in Kenos as a special kind of spirit known as a Servant. Most of the details of this don’t matter (don’t look into what this means unless you want your brain to melt). The most important things to know are that Servants in Fate are categorized based on their combat abilities like a Dungeons & Dragons class and have some unique skills that can reflect this. While the biggest attacks of a Servant (Noble Phantasms) will get their own section below, I’m using this section for little things that aren’t worthy of their own block!

  • Rider/Riding ; Quetz is classified as a Rider-class Servant, which essentially means her highest skills relate to riding vehicles or creatures. Because of this designation, Quetz automatically has knowledge of how to use and operate any vehicle at its highest efficiency and is similarly able to tame and mount any beast that’s rideable (including dragons).

  • Magic Resistance ; Greatly reduced from canon, but Quetz has a natural resistance to magic. There’s no nullification (obviously), but magical attacks might need more power or multiple attacks to damage her.

  • (Extreme) Fire Resistance ; As a goddess of the sun, Quetz is nearly immune to the effects of heat and fire. Her resistance drops as her magical reservoir empties, but at full power, Quetz is able to stand in lava without being damaged. This is something I'm willing to be super flexible with, though, and the extremity of the resistance is more for laughs (and to make some of her powers inherently usable lol), so if she's ever in a PvP situation where the other half is very fire-based, I'll reduce this significantly.
ENHANCED ABILITY As a deity, Quetz’s physical abilities far outclass humans to the point of meeting the powercap. She’s monstrously strong, incredibly fast with razor sharp reflexes, and able to receive and heal quickly from hits of all kinds. She hits like a fucking semi-truck. However, Quetzalcoatl is also someone who believes in fairness! Without being given a specific reason to, she’ll intentionally limit her abilities to better match who she’s fighting. She’d never use her full strength against a regular human, but once she knows someone is at her skill level she also will not hold back at all. She’s a brute that loves fighting! Which…
LUCHA LIBRE While not a skill exactly, it’s worth noting that Quetz love love loves lucha libre/professional wrestling, and her attacks are always more flavored to wrestling moves than more “efficient” or disciplined styles of fighting. If it’s not fun and flashy, it’s not worth it! She’s still an absurdly good combatant, but you just might also end up getting piledrived when you fight her instead of punched like a normal person would.

Though she prefers to fight with her fists first, she also fights with a Macuahuitl and Chimalli on occasion.
Noble Phantasm - Quetzalcoatl Don’t worry about what Noble Phantasm means, first of all, but one of Quetz’s three Noble Phantasms and the one she’ll most commonly use is called “Quetzalcoatl”. By activating this ability, Quetz summons… a dinosaur! Naturally, it's the Quetzalcoatlus, a Cretaceous-era pterosaur. To be within powercap, he's reduced in size to a 20ft wingspan (slightly smaller than a private airplane/Cessna) and she's only able to summon one Quetzalcoatlus at once. The dinosaur can only support the weight of two (normally sized) people and be able to fly. Actually flying also draws upon Quetz’s magical reservoir, so she would only be able to sustain it for short flights. While she’s riding it, she’s able to manipulate the wind and rain at small scale (not including lightning at all).
Noble Phantasm - Xiuhcoatl From canon: “The second coming of the flames that burned down her own temple in order to prevent the Evil God Tezcatlipoca from acquiring its many treasures, during a time when Quetzalcoatl was leaving the Aztecs. Flames envelop the surroundings, and enemies are temporarily prevented from invoking the True Name release of their Noble Phantasms.”

Or, an extremely powerful physical attack that combines lucha libre techniques with fire. In canon, we see her use this as a piledriver and as a heel kick, so for RP I’m interpreting this as a magically enhanced physical attack that’s supplemented with fire. She would only be able to use this sparingly (like, once per event), and it’s against a single target. However, its destructive power is at the power cap limit.
Noble Phantasm - Piedra Del Sol Essentially removed because of its (frankly absurd) destructive power, with an exception based on how she uses and combines this Noble Phantasm with her other, Xiuhcoatl. In canon, this power allows Quetzalcoatl to essentially, uh, summon the fucking sun to Earth. Literally.

Rather than do that, Quetz can activate this Noble Phantasm and essentially store the power of the sun within herself (a la the Babylonia Singularity) rather than unleash it on a wide area. She can combine it with Xiuhcoatl to turn herself into essentially a massively destructive meteor. However, using this ability would permakill her because it would destroy her Shard. So basically, if I want to drop in a cool way, she’ll use it, and it would be with the consent of like, the entire game. It’d also be in a PvE situation rather than PvP!

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: I prefer brackets, but will match a preferred style!

Backtagging: As long as a thread is continuing along at a good rate, I'll backtag for a very, very long time lmao

Threadhopping: Always good to ask first, but 95% of the time the answer will be "yes, absolutely"

Offensive Subjects: None for me!

IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: DO IT DO IT DO IT though unlike a certain someone (Sebastian), Quetz might not deserve it, wow. A rare nice character from Christy. More serious answer, violence is always welcome with Quetz since she's extremely fight happy and will (usually) fight fair! She's super strong and harder to injure, but she'll deeply love a good fight.

Death/Dissipation: As long as it's plotted, good with me!

Physical Affection: Always welcome! Quetz is very physically affectionate herself, so she's likely to initiate it. She gives great hugs!

Shipping/Sex: Open to it! Quetz is very casual with sex and she's more likely to engage in a fling than full-on shipping, but she's pure and good, so you'd be so lucky.

Mental/Communion: Always open and welcome. She doesn't mind it at all.

Offensive Subjects: None for her.
